Literacy Day in Campbell River

Campbell River Daybreak Rotary was the lead for the annual 'Rotarians Read' event January 25th in celebration of National Literacy Day on January 27th. This day has Rotarians from both Campbell River Noon and Daybreak Clubs go to schools in our district and read to primary school children. This year Rotary was able to fill 36 - 30 minute time slots which translates to 18 hours of reading fit into a 6 hour day.
Campbell River Daybreak Rotary will offer the Rotary branded DVD to other Rotary groups as a literacy initiative. Families will benefit from these initiatives by receiving the "I Love When You Count" DVD for free. A percentage of profits will go back to Daybreak Rotary to be used for community literacy projects and initiatives. For more information or to order copies of this DVD or "I Love When You Read' DVD please see http://www.crdaybreakrotary.org/literacy.htm
Another exciting Literacy initiative is donate a book to a school library in their name. Both Rotary Clubs in Campbell River have adopted this and the results benefits the schools and the libraries selection of amazing books to share with students.
